ISLAMIC TABLE MANNERS
It is nothing wrong to take meal alone, but it is better and it is practice of all Prophets to eat together with their companions. We gain more barakah when we eat from a common platter.
Food should preferably be taken while sitting on the floor, as this is a sign of humility.
The Islamic table manners are characterized by cleanliness, simplicity and moderation. There should be no hurry in taking food.Blowing on food to cool it should be avoided. The same with drinking without pause.
If one forgets to mention Allah name over the food, upon remembrance, he should recite this doa, which it’s means “Food should not be taken from all side of platter, but eat which is nearest to you”.
If the person likes the food, then he may express approval and admiration, otherwise he should never criticize. Eat when you are hungry and stop before you are full.
After finished eating, praise Allah for the food by saying the doa after food..
